Hello,

my Family was sending me from Europe some Documents to Canada, already 1 months ago and even though they sended it first class they got probably lost. My Family received a number on the receipt from the Post Office, so now they are `investigating` where that envelope could got lost  Great, in that envelope is my birth certificate Citizenship certificate and more ! So now I have to wait even longer to submit my PR application under Spouse Familiy Class. I dont know where that envelope is, IF it ever arrives and how long it takes my family to get all that documents in my Homecountry for me, for in case the envelope dont appears somehow :( So I am really panicking now, cause I got the feeling time is running out. I am under legal status until the end of October after an visa extension. I will include a Open Work Permit in my PR application, so that I have legal status during the PR processing time. But now I must submit ALSO a visa extension application cause we probably cant send my PR application before my status expires. So what, if my visa extension gets denied ? Will I have anyways implied status cause of the Open Work Permit I put in my application ? Or would it be better, that I wait until I have all documents, send in my PR application and send in a restoration of status ? If anybody could help me please, that would be great.

thank you in advance !

Hi,

I've never applied for an Open Work Permit, so I can't really help you with that....sorry :(

Now about the "lost" documents: did you try tracking the package? Did your European relatives send them via DHL/FedEx/UPS? If so, try to go to their website (DHL/FedEx/UPS) and plugin the tracking number and see where the package is.

Alternatively, if your relatives mailed the package using their country's local postal carrier, that means that once the package reached Canada, it would've been handled by Canada Post, in which case you should try tracking your package via www.canadapost.ca

Hope that helps a bit...

thank you fandv,

I include a Open Work Permit in my Spouse Family Class PR application, so that I keep my legal status in Canada while the PR application is in process. As I could find already trough this great forum out, that works 100%. The big questions is, since I submit my visa extension application before my PR application, what if my visa extension gets refused ? Will the refusal not count, since I will have implied status cause of the PR application ? ???

and my family sended it from a post office (first class), I am not sure how its called here. they are trying to find the letter by the number what my family received, when they sended the letter. I hope at the end of this week they know already something new.

thank you for any help !

thank you

From the sound of it, it looks like you're applying inland...correct? My spouse applied outland, and so I'm not that familiar with inland procedures, so I'll let other members chime in...

However I can tell you that I've just learnt from this thread:

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/out-of-status-in-canada-urgent-advice-needed-t213091.0.html;msg3495450#msg3495450

that being out of status won't make them deny your PR status, and that you can remain in Canada (without status) while your inland application is being processed.

Well I suggest that you send a private message to this fellow forum user, named screech339. He/she seems really knowledgeable about inland matters, so he/she can probably give you better advice than I can :).

About the lost package: it looks like your relatives sent it via their local postal carrier then. Okay so what you have to do is: as soon as you obtain the tracking number, go to canadapost.ca to track the whereabouts of the package... ;)

thank you very much fandv :)

yes, I apply inland. I explained to my husband that outland would be faster and we would have our approval (or not) sooner, but he wants to stick by inland. I will send a message to the fellow member, and lets hope those documents arrive this week and if not, i will go with the tracking number to canadapost. And I read the thread you mentioned, I posted a question on that one :)

best wishes
