Documents for child for PR visa question.

Hello there! I was wondering if anyone could possible help with a couple brief questions. Currently my family and I are living in Japan but are planning to relocate back to Canada this year. I have a 1 year old daughter who was born in Japan and only holds a Japanese passport. I know my wife requires a medical check and photographs but does this also apply to my 1 year old daughter? Will she be required to undergo the medical check and have photographs taken as well? Any help regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

If your daughter is Canadian, then she doesn't need to be included in the PR application. You need to apply for her Certificate of Citizenship, and then for her Canadian passport.
If your daughter is not Canadian, then you need to include her as a dependent of your wife under the family spousal sponsorship (medicals, photograph etc. are needed).

If you're Canadian, either born in Canada or naturalized, your daughter is most likely already Canadian. If you are Canadian because your parents were Canadian, but you were born outside of Canada, then she is not Canadian.

Even if the daughter is Canadian, the child still need to be listed in the PR sponsorship form IMM5481 sponsorship evaluation under 6. B) and in form IMM5406 additional family information under section B children. Without listing your canadian daughter in these 2 forms, can be interpret as misrepresentation.

Do I require photographs of myself such as the ones my wife and daughter have to have taken? I assume not considering I hold a Canadian passport. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

No you do not have to provide photos of yourself. Only photos of your wife and daughter.

Going back, is the daughter your biological daughter? If so, you must list her on the forms but she is not an applicant for permanent residence. You would need to apply for a certificate of citizenship and then a Canadian passport for her.

By the way, why does it take NINE months to get a certificate of citizenship from a Canadian embassy, according to CIC's website? That's crazy! What would you do if you had a child abroad who was effectively stateless in the mean time?!

If the daughter is Canadian, then no picture is required. Only those who is being sponsored and granted PR.
