Documentary proof for travel purpose?

Hi, there:

I am planning to apply for a temporary resident visa to visit Canada from the United States. The purpose of this trip is personal travel. But the online form asked to provide documentary evidence to prove the purpose of this trip, such as invitation letter to attend a friend's wedding ceremony. Since I know nobody in Canada, and since I am not planning to reserve anything until the visa is approved, what kind of documentary evidence can I provide?

YOu can do hotel reservations through expedia. It's free.
SAme with flights.
So apply as a tourist and prove you have tourist plans
