Hello All,

I am living in Canada & am preparing PR Application file for my wife who is living in India right now. I am a PR in Canada. I have couple questions in my application process and Document submission:

1. PCC: I am wondering who needs to submit the PCC in this process? Is it only my wife who have to submit her PCC or All family members who are 18 yr of age or older? If required from all family members who are included: Her parents, brother and sister in law &my parents, brother & sister in law?

2. Letter of Explanation on spouse NOT having a status in Canada: On Page no. 5 (Bottom most section) of Document checklist, it says to principal applicant: "If you do not have status in canada, please provide an explanation on a separate piece of paper, as well a copy of any paperwork you have that is relevant to your status". I am wondering, what is intention of this document and possible content i can include in this letter.

3. Can i put her Open Work Permit application with spousal PR Application as well? If yes, is there any risk involved?

Thank you in advance.

1. Only your wife needs to provide a PCC.
2. No letter is needed for your wife. This is only for people who are in Canada illegally / without status. Your wife is not in Canada.
3. She doesn't qualify for an Open Work Permit. There is no point applying. She would only qualify if she was in Canada and you were sponsoring her inland.

One more question: Is it safe enough to put a visitor visa for her? (and once she is here, i can apply for her work permit.) I feel very less chances of her getting a visitor visa as i am being a PR here & married with her. What's your thoughts?

You can certainly apply for a TRV however the chances of approval are low. If the TRV is refused, this will not harm the sponsorship application.

She will only qualify for an open work permit if she is in Canada and you sponsor her for PR through the inland route. If you sponsor her outland and then she later comes to Canada on a TRV, she will not qualify for an open work permit.

Okay i see...Reason i asked you is because on the bottom o ffirst page there is a table, where it is allowing entry of travel to: "Your Spouse or common-law partner".
If they are accompanying the primary applicant. You aren't part of the application.

My case: My self (PR-living in Canada), filling for spousal PR (wife- living outside Canada) to sponsor my wife.

How do I have her signature on the few forms as she doesn't live in Canada? As at the end of few forms i have to have her signature as well.

You can ask her to send documents by courier or you can submit forms with scanned signature.
