Hi guys!

I have a quick kinda panicked question.

I reviewed the documents for my husband's application again a couple of weeks ago (Made multiple copies just in case) and realized I sent the wrong from in when I sent the package.

The form where you answer questions about your wedding ceremony it asked if my parents attended > yes or no?

I circled yes. However, I wrote a note that my mother attended but not my father as he was anticipating a wedding in the future and was assured he didn't need to travel for that ceremony if he couldn't afford it. (The ol' cheap wedding first fancy wedding after years of saving deal!)

Regardless, I was looking through my copies and realized I accidentally sent the copy that just had yes checked without explaining that my father did not attend. It doesn't give the option to say just one parent attended so I was advised to just check yes!

I didn't mention this in any other spot so I'm freaking out that if it were to come up for any reason (Interview maybe?) we'd be accused of lying!!!

I didn't intentionally leave it out, I just sent out the un-noted one!

Should we be worried? Is there any way I can rectify this without it looking sketchy?

Please help! (Ps, they haven't looked at our file yet!)

To be honest I wouldn't overly worry about it, you ticked yes which in my opinion is correct as you did have a parent attend. A cover note maybe would have been useful but what you could do is once you have sponsorship approval and your application number you could forward a covering letter explaining the situation to the visa office which will process your application.

Agreed. It is minor and I can't imagine CIC giving you a hard time if the rest of the application is solid.

Oh good to hear! I've heard horror stories of people getting caught with little mistakes and being red flagged because of it! That's what I was hoping, if I said no it wouldn't be entirely true and it would look bad if it appeared my parents didn't attend at all!

So it would be best to simply write out why it wasn't stated in the original document and explain why my father didn't attend and attach a cover letter explaining the updates? (I have to update CIC on a birth and police clearance stuff as well.)

Thanks for the advice! :)

One minor "mistake" (and it is debatable if it is even a mistake) will not red flag you. What can happen however is if you have a bunch of small mistakes. Then they start to add up and CIC starts to think this a sloppy application (at best) and starts to look at scrutinize everything more.

You said you already explained why your father didn't attend in a note so you are good. And since your mother did attend, you had a parent there. I wouldn't even bother with another explanation.

Sending a note explaining this once you have a file number is fine. They most likely would not consider it misrepresentation anyway, but explaining it won't hurt. It is better to explain before they ask, in any case.

first, don't freak out. second, there's no need to send a cover letter or explanation, and third...STEP AWAY FROM THE APPLICATION.

something very similiar happened to me. when i was reviewing my application, i noticed sooooo many mistakes! There was even a question
(or 2) left blank! One question was about whether the sponsor traveled to his wedding by himself. we forgot to tick the answer. and you know what happened... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! my application was approved in 5ish months, and it never became an issue! What I realized from this is that the rest of my application was complete and solid, and the informtion that specific question asked was pretty much answered in other questions "by proxy". so you see, the information is looked at as a whole. if the information is there, and the visa officer is convinced your relationship is valid, then they aren't going to care if you failed to provide an explanation for 1 question. BTW, you are not going to be "caught in a lie" or accused of misrepresentation. you did NOT lie, you ticked the appropriate answer. if the visa officer REALLY wants an explanation, they will ask you for one. they will give you chance to explain anything that doesn't make sense to them. PRetty sure though it's not going to matter.

Now, at this point, there's absolutely nothing you can do about your application. what was sent was sent. you did the best you could with the information you had at the time. put it in an envelope, file it away for safe keeping, walk away and know everything will work out perfectly fine!

Oh my goodness! This response just created a wave of relief over me! Thank you so much! :)

I keep obsessing about it because it's taking so long to process! XD I really appreciate your advice and that's actually what my husband said too! To just leave it be!

Just gotta trust the system. :)

Thank you again! ;D

I also agree with this. My husband and I have been doing the same thing now that we had stuff requested and it's driving us up the wall. We're both big walking balls of stress, but now that everything is sent off once again it's a bit easier to breathe. Gotta just let it take it's course! Good luck! :D

trust me when i say the process will seem a LOT easier when you put away any copies of your applicaiton and you stop reviewing it for things that "could go wrong". it does nothing positive for the experience.
