Document checklist… a few questions.

I received my ITA last friday. Now I'm starting to upload documents. Please can anyone help me answer these questions:
1. Police certificate - has (multiple) on it. Why? I have not lived anywhere other than the UK and canada for more than 6 months, and it says only countries "other than Canada" so I shouldn't have to provide multiple police checks. I lived in England and Scotland however, both part of the UK so comes under the same police check

2. What is the difference between 'offer of employment' and 'letter of employment'? It asks for both but 'letter of employment' has no helpful i symbol on it so doesn't tell me what it is. Can I use the same document as my offer of employment one?

3. Passport - asks for (multiple). I only have one passport. Is this because I have to send multiple pages from my passport?

4. Legal name change doc - Can I just upload my marriage certificate again? I don't have any other document.

5. Spouse education diploma/degree - he has not had ECA and we did not claim points for it, why do I need to upload proof?

Thats all I have for now, I have to get this 100% right, already had my application rejected once, cannot let it happen again.

Thanks everyone!!!

Re: Document checklist... a few questions.

I don't have answers to all of your questions because I am in the same boat, but I can say this:

1. We have the same, My Wife's app also says Multiple for Police certificate and she has only ever lived in 2 places, Hong Kong and Canada.

2. We also have this question...very difficult to get an explanation of what "letter of employment" is.

3. Again, multiple doesn't seem to make a lot of sense here.

4. From what I have learned in other threads, yes your marriage cert. and a short explanation is all that is required for this providing you only changed your last name and did so at the time of marriage.

5. Don't know, we don't have this situation.

Good luck, hopefully someone else has more information. I would especially like a specific answer to number 2

Hi, Gsheriff,,

Police is probably just one if you have not mentioned any other country for more than 6 months of duration.
Check your address history.

offer of employment is the offer letter when u join the company that's the one you receive.

letter of employment is something you need to request the company which has ur role and responsibilities salary and number of hours worked and duration you have worked with that one company.

probably multiple is an option by default. you do need to scan the passport all pages which has stamps visas/ make it one pdf... only 1 pdf can be uploaded anyways.

you can use your marriage cert or if your name change has been updated in the passport you can use that as well.

my husband also hasnt done EcA but you need to still upload the documents they have requested for your spouse education

Ok, so I guess my confusion comes from the fact that ALL of the information in this so called "Letter of Employment" is already included in the "Reference Letter" that you are required to submit from your current (and past) employer. Already feel like we are asking a lot of the employer, seems silly to ask the employer to write the same letter twice (or at least 2 letters covering the same info).

...
The language that CIC uses for the Offer of Employment is this "You must provide an official document from your proposed employer, printed on company letterhead, stating that you will be employed in Canada for a specified period of time by that company." My Wife joined her company 5 years ago, it does not appear to me from reading this that CIC wants her original offer of employment, but a new letter from the proposed employer stating that she will be employed going forward from today. (The proposed employer in this case being her current employer of 5 years of course).

Am i wrong on this?

Re: Document checklist... a few questions.

I did not get an 'offer of employment' letter when I joined the company, only a contract to sign. This includes all the info, pay, duties etc. Can I use this as my 'offer of employment'?

Re: Document checklist... a few questions.

you can use the contract as well yeah i think the terms differ here by CIC.
if you have a clear offer of employment u can submit that it shud have all the details CIC is requesting...
i only submitted my offer of employment 1 page with payslips.

Be sure to double check all the info you put in the forms you are working on, once you get to the document check list part I don't think you can go back and change anything.

Fortunately you CAN go back and make changes to those forms after you have finished filling them in and have viewed the Document Checklist. I believe they will remain open until you submit your application to CIC.

Never hurts to double check anyway :)

Re: Document checklist... a few questions.

I have seen this link already, it doesn't really answer the questions clearly, I still have the questions after reading the info in the link. I realize it's impossible for CIC to answer everyone's case specific questions on their website. Has anyone used the call centre for these types of questions? I didn't find the call centre too helpful previously.

Job offer letter - offer of permanent employment contingent on your obtaining permanent resident status. This is needed in addition to an LMIA to have a "valid job offer" for the extra 600 pts.

Letter of employment - Letter attesting to your current or past employment experience. "Mandatory for all positions declared."

Both letters would need:
- Job title
- NOC Code
- Exact start and end dates of employment
- Number of hours worked per week
- Salary/wage/remuneration (plus benefits)
- Job duties/responsibilities *** THIS IS CRITICAL. IT ALLOWS CIC TO DETERMINE WHETHER YOU MEET THE SKILLED WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTs.

Name and contact information of person signing the letter. Attach a business card if you can.

The DATE the letter is written MUST be at the top of the letter.

This information used to be provided in the document checklists for CEC and FSW.

Personal advice: Often it is helpful to start the letter with a very brief description of the organization you work for and who the clients/customers are (in general), since many NOCs are industry-specific, and it will help contextualize the job duties and responsibilities.

Re: Document checklist... a few questions.

On this webpage (link provided above) -
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/express/intake-complete.asp

Read the section on Proof of Work Experience - the Reference or Experience letter described is the same thing as the "Letter of Employment."
