Hello!

I just submitted my outland family sponsorship application for Common law spouse. Sponsor is Canadian and applicant is American. I made a small mistake / typo on form 5669 and 5406. For my parents' date of birth, I put the wrong year for them both. It was a stupid mistake. I had them being born 1 year later than their actual DOB. I didn't realize this dumb mistake until I had mailed out the application. I don't plan on sponsoring my parents for a Canadian visa anytime soon.

Questions for the group -
1. Will this negatively affect my application or cause it to be rejected?
2. What is the best way to fix this issue? I was planning to wait until my account is linked online (I haven't received an AOR or a UCI # yet as I just mailed it yesterday). And then once I receive the AOR and UCI# use the web form to send in a letter explaining my mistake and the corrected / updated forms. Is this the best approach? Is there anything else I could do to help fix this issue?

I'm a bit stressed out and would hate to have this small mistake cost me the visa approval. I also hope it doesn't come off as misrepresentation because it was just a typo...so I'd definitely appreciate any advice from everyone about how to fix this.

Thanks!

Minor problem - don't stress. But it is one which you should fix and tell them the correct information. You are doing the right thing to wait for AOR so you have your case reference numbers, then by all means either write or send an email or case specific enquiry.

Thanks so much. How specifically would I write them or send a case specific enquiry? Is there a site that gives instructions on how to send case specific enquiry? I've seen that term used in other places in this forum...but am not sure of the exact process for submitting one of these. THanks again for the answer...super helpful!

Varies by which office it is you want to contact. Some info on that here - I don't have contact details specifically for Sydney though.

Hey Hi, Did you inform IRCC? Did your application go through?

Turns out I had a missing document when I submitted in May so I had to resubmit the entire application in August. I made sure I had the correct DOB on the new application. And think that resolved my issue.

Hey thanks for your reply. I have also re-submitted the application with correct date. I am also not planning to sponsor my parents anytime soon.

I was so stressed out because of this. I believe that they will consider the new application for their records.

Questions for you:
They didn't ask you for any other proof, right?
Did they give any comment for discrepancy??
Did you submit IMM 0008 and IMM 5406 by filling out the forms (PDFs), printing the forms along with the barcodes and scanning them again?

I would appreciate if you could reply. Thanks for your time!
