Incorrect advice. You need to be ready to give a urine sample. Other than that drink normally.

,I called them to ask whether she needs to fast or not , they told me no need to fast . Later on when she went to give her blood , they were asking why didn’t she fast ?

They must of ask for tests other than the standard blood panel. You can return to any local lab after fasting.
So fasting wasn't actually required but may have been better for certain tests. The doctor didn't specify fasting.
You don't need to fast for A1C which is the most accurate test to measure blood sugar. Nurses don't work at labs they are usually phlebotomists.
Nurses still rarely do blood tests not even in the hospital labs. Maybe they had an RPN who had taken a phlebotomy course. Still doesn't matter A!C is the most reliable test and measures your blood sugar over the past 3 months so doesn't matter if you are fasting.
