Hi,

Do you need multiple police certificates for multiple residences in India? I have stayed in 3 different states (each around 2 years) during the last 10 years.

Police certificates in India (at least the ones obtained from chief of police) tend to be regional. Just wondering if the one certificate I am getting for my permanent address (home) is enough or if I need for all the 3 addresses.

Thanks

Police certificates issued by a Passport Seva Kendra aren't regional, they're national. PCCs from district police stations are regional, though. I'd strongly recommend getting one from a PSK.

You would only need one PCC from a PSK

I was in the same soup earlier, so I got one from PSK as well as the regional police station. Because the PSK one does not mention any dates or timeline. The regional one in fact gives you a clearance with dates from birth to application date.

PSK is tricky because you can get rejected as the dates are not mentioned. So I will not advice relying only on the PSK PCC.

No one ever got rejected for getting a PCC from PSK in India. Many countries do not mention date in their PCCs. And CIC never asks that your PCC should have the dates. If they are issued by the proper authority, it is acceptable by CIC.

On the other hand, applications have been rejected for regional PCCs.
