Do you get points for IELTS and financial and educational documents for study permit like you do in express entry? Like does better grades and ielts helps more or do you just have to get more than the minimum threshold?

Study permits are points based. However the higher your marks and IELTS score - the greater your chance of approval.

@scylla because i heard someone saying that a 6 band ielts is no different than a 8 band as they just want to be proficient in the language. So that is false right?

I would completely disagree with that. A higher band certainly gives you a better chance. Especially if your marks aren't the best.

@scylla My permit was refused previously and the reason was english test results missing. I gave academic one and got an 8. How many applicants do you know whose permit got refused with a band score of 8?

It's certainly still possible to be refused. It depends on your overall profile.

Thanks for the input. I just wanted to know whether it will increase my chances or not.
