Hi all,

My husband has a multiple entries visitor visa and can only stay in Canada for maximum of 6 months. We are in the process of submitting his PR through the spouse sponsorship (inland) plus a open work permit. However I understand the OWP will likely take 4+months to receive and he has already been in Canada for 3 months and will expire in Feb 2019. If we were to submit his application in the next few days, do we need to extend his visitor visa, say Dec 2018 or Jan 2019? I understand that while he waits for OWP, he has implied status, but what if it got rejected and we don't have his visa extended? Also, if we need to extend his visa in Jan 2019, where should we go to give biometrics within Canada?

Many thanks!

It's a good idea to apply for an extension, even as a backstop against the OWP. It's only a $100 investment for peace of mind.

Yes, that's what we are thinking as well. However, after Dec 31, 2018, any new application would need to submit biometrics. I've looked through CIC's website but could not find where to give biometrics while in Canada. Anyone knows?

They will be established in Canada, but CIC hasn't announced where yet.
