I doubt it. How would that even work ? Showing that you have a debit card gives the VO no information other than that you have a debit card; he doesn't know how much money is on the card.
You need a bank statement.
Yes sure as suggested by you, I will definitely carry the bank statements but I assume that visa cards for international banks e.g. HSBC we can use worldwide.
I am being precautionary if VO asks okay here is your statements which says you have enough money but how you gonna make use of it in case you need more than what are you carrying as cash?
Then I can say I can always use Debit and credit cards although it will charge me for overseas TX's.

Do you have any other important thing to suggest.

When you are alone it will be okay, but when you are traveling with a family then they will calculate you value related to the Canadian tax table.
It shouldn't be a problem when you have a job and not more than 5 dependent family members with you.
When you are traveling with more than 5, you could have to show your yearly income. Even when it not needed in CEC, they are afraid that people are comming into social asistance when they come with a family, and immigration doesn't like that.
Hapend to me in April 2016. I have a good job, so I cae trough, but only that you know that it is possible in special circumstances.

Sorry I didn't get it. I hope you are saying about POF not needed when we are alone. Is it?
Currently we are two and going to just complete landing formality as we are working in UK and we have to find a job in canada first before settling down there completely. We are going for a week only with some cash in CAD.I hope it should be okay.

I don't really understand what Canadaideaal is saying.

But POF is required for everyone, whether you are alone or not.

I also got confused at some points listed above.
But I think POF is not needed for CEC applicants but yes we should carry bank statements always instead of cash or DD or travellers' cheques.

Sorry, I forgot we were talking about CEC.

You're right, POF is not required for CEC applicants.
But my point about Canadaideaal's post was that the number of people accompanying you has absolutely no bearing on whether or not you require POF. (Although it does obviously affect the amount of funds required if you do need POF.)

My excuse that I was not so clear in my explanation.

What I wanted to say is:

Under CEC is no POF asked or needed.
But:
I got a letter that stated as follow:

CIC has the policy responsibility with respect to inadmissibility for financial
reasons [A39].
A39
39. A foreign national is inadmissible for financial reasons if they are or will be unable or
unwilling to support themselves or any other person who is dependent on them, and
have not satisfied an officer that adequate arrangements for care and support, other
than those that involve social assistance, have been made.
Please refer to Designation of Officers and Delegation of Authority documents in IL 3 for
more details.

I also had to state that i had enough income to take care of all my dependents. My Wife and children.
Because my oldest 3 children are working already ( with workpermit) I could state that had enough income to take care of my dependents.
( When older children are working, they are actualy not dependent anymore)

I wanted to say that is is not required under CEC to state POF, but in special circumstances they will ask you to show enough income for you and all your dependents. In that case they are going by income tax table 3 from Revenue Canada.

Thanks,

Okay got your point:)
We just need to satisfy the VO that we can support ourselves.
In that case, we both are working in UK presently and will be going to Canada for a week to complete PR formalities.
We will be carrying our UK bank statements to show the required funds and will also be carrying suffice money to survive for a week in Canada.
I hope it makes sense.

I very recently landed and was in the same situation as you. I thought no proof of funds were required under CEC but my lawyer also asked me to prepare the funds for when I land. When I did my landing, no one asked me for any proof of funds. However, at the suggestion of my lawyer, I took the following in case they do ask me for it:

1. My Bank Statement for the last 6 months.
2. Letter of employment from my current employer stating how long I have been working with them and that I am currently working with them as well.

In addition to this, I did carry some cash/travellers cheques for my expenses.

Hope that helps.

Thanks pkssandhu very much for this post.
Much appreciated.
Could you please answer one more doubt here.
As similar case to mine, you are also working in UK and just went to Canada to complete the landing formalities.
You carried your employment letter and bank statements to be on the safe side.
I hope I am getting it right.
Thanks for replying.
