hi...

in this forum i read that among the list of documents to be carried....marriage certificate is also included.

spouse name is in the passport. Also parents name is written in the child's passport.

1.....do we still need to have a marriage certificate????
2....if so for what purpose... for SIN card etc???
3...any other document which can be substituted in place of the marriage certificate????

eagerly waiting for your inputs...

i never heard an immigration officer at the port of entry asks for a marriage certificate at the time of landing. but also remember, i haven't landed yet :).

i recently landed with my wife, immigration officers NEVER asked for our wedding certificate. This is my personal experience. We had our wedding certificate with us so even if they have asked for it we would have provided it. So best advise, why not have it in your hand luggage just in case they ask for it?
Best regards

If you are married.. (legally) then get a ceritificate .. It will be useful for other purpose.. (remember thay did ask for marriage ceritificate copy during the full document submission to local office)

i would suggest not to take risks just carry a copy of it it would not make muck of a luggage but if asked it will show its importance. So i would recommend not to ignore.

Now coming to the second point in case if you are not having the marriage certificate you can still get it with a weeks time [in India] so you could always apply and get it if you are not having one.

If I remember correctly, they state in the visa letter that you should bring some of the originals because IO might ask for them. In my case they never asked for those documents, but you will want to bring your marriage certificate. You will use it for so many other things like filing for taxes.

Regards.
