For those who have gone through it all, I'm just wondering if CIC returns all the items we send in as proof of relationship (such as photos and letters). I didn't send in anything original, but I'm curious as to whether we get it all back. (We made a 50 page scrapbook!)

Depends on the visa office, some return your proofs etc, many don't.

Yes you do. When I went to collect my PR, they handed me back all that I had submitted as evidence.

The above is the correct answer. We received nothing back from my husband's file.

Wow.. we sent over 60 or 80 pictures mostly from wedding and special occasions. I would want them back :S

if they initially don't give them back to u u can request for them!!!! again depending of ur visa office they could consider ur request or not...usually the visa offices which ask for originals they clearly say "they will be returned to you"; other visa offices specifically ask only for photocopies and others don't clearly mention anything; i guess if u ask u should get it back ::) see people from ur embassy if they got their stuff back or not and how

When you are sending documents with the application make sure you send photocopies and don't expect cic return your stuff back. Even within the same consulate they may return another person't stuff but maybe not yours.

actually the regional guides should be followed....some embassies specifically ask for originals

That's right! If the embassy specifically requested originals you can't go around that.

We send around 80 photos and some love letters..
I wish they will send it back to us ???

As Charlie said, depends on the visa office. I got my original marriage certificate back with the passport and COPR. The pictures were printed on paper and the greeting cards and other stuff were colour copies, so we never expected them back. :)

yeah unfortunately no...i still feel sad for sending our first cards to each other....hope they won't need them as collection ;) ....but overall even if u send originals have backup, photocopies just in case....and what i'm talking was abt relationship proofs only...usually important documents i would not recommed to send originals - they usually ask notarized translation + copy of the original....
