Do we get exchanged driving license same day

Anyone who has exchange there foreign driving license can please share there experience.
How much time it take.
Do they give Canada license same day (if exchanging from UK or us licence) or they post it to your address.
What type of address proof you need to show.
Please reply.

I except reply from only those who have exchange there licence and got practical experience.

Driver License exchange is only possible for those who have license from specific countries such U.S., Japan, UK, Australia. I think I am missing another country.

Anyway, if you bring an abstract from the DL Deparment, they will expedite a license with 5 years. Otherwise, it will be less.

My case:
I gave them my Florida Driver License, paid 75.00 Dollars, took the vision test, they took a picture, I signed, they gave me a temporary. 10 days later, I got the plastic one. I bought the abstract online just before going.

Address proof: I brought my Landing papers which showed the address I was staying. BTW, it was a temporary. 30 days later, I went back and gave them the new address. (Showed them the lease contract).

It was easy.

and you need a driving experience certificate from UK,

I am not doing a driving job...I use my car for work and leisure... I don't think anyone have proof of this...!!

actually I've left UK last month...and my visa office is ND

If the line is not too long. 15 minutes. How about that? The temporary one. Ot takes about 10-20 days to get the plastic one.
My experience is based on Ontario...

Mine is UK licence approx 5 + year old.
Wife is 3 year old UK licence.

Wife is 3 year old UK licence.

If you show proof of driving license record, they will give you the limit which is 5 years.

If you just bring the the license, they will issue you a license but it will depends on how many years you have had the one. Let's say you got your DL on april 2009, then they will only give you 3 yrs.
In your wife case, they will recognize just the 3 years.

In summary, if you don't bring the letter (Abstract), it won't hurt you.

One very important point to remember, BRING A LETTER FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY YOU MAY HAVE, STATING THAT YOU HAVE HAD COVERAGE WITH THEM for x period.

So, when the time comes to get some car insurance coverage, you might get a lower premium.

And why it's matter if someone got 3 year or 6 hear old licence.

Well, they put a lot weight on your experience on the road. If you have 5 and your spouse 3 years, it's obvious, one of you have more expererience.

Here is the question? What if you just have a license but don't have a car. On the other hand, your wife is the one who drives all the time. She has more experience than you... The system my friend...

Do'nt worry too much on this... It's not a huge issue. You are probably going to face biggest hurdles than the DL.

Here in UK we bothgot our own separate car and separate insurance policy.

Plus we both got Indian license too which is over 10 years.. I know that's of no use there. Lol
