Do we get a confirmation Message after they receive the passport?:(

Hi All,

I have applied for TRV online. I was asked to mail the passport with the letter and labels.

I have mailed them all those docs.

Do we receive any confirmation message from the CIC when they receive our passport.

I am a bit worried because it's been a week that I have sent my passport and I still don't have any confirmation message that they received the Passport

Please let me know.

rupesh38, can you please tell us how long it took you to get the email telling you to send the passport after you replied for the TRV online?

Got an email and a message in MyCIC account to submit the passport on 05th Aug 2013
Sent my Passport on 6th Aug 2013
Still waiting to receive the confirmation that they have received my passport. No message yet.
I am worried

Rupesh, I spent most of the day reading forums and from what I gathered, the consulate takes at least one week to return your passport.

Another question for you: Although you applied online, can you please tell me why you had to send your passport to the consulate in NY? Do you live in the United States?

No you do not get confirmation message form CIC. You just get your passport back. People have reported anywhere from 4 days to 2 weeks. So don't stress out

Thank you for your reply. I will be in trouble if it is 2 weeks because my travel is planned on 17th Aug.

I have booked the flight tickets and also a non refundable Hotel for 2 weeks in Edmonton

I was confused because many applicants have posted the dates when

1. They have sent the passport to CIC.
2. When the CIC has received their passport.

I wonder how they know the dates

I have applied online and sent the passport to consulate in Hong Kong, NOT in NY.

I am an Indian national working in Hong Kong.

After we submit it online, the CIC reviews the documents and makes a decision and asks us to send the passport so they can paste the Visa and send it back to us.

The online process just eases the consulate in reviewing our documents but we still need to send the passport after the decision is made.

They send us an email once they make a decision.

They just go by the tracking number of the courier service. The courier tracking will tell you what date it was received at the embassy

I went to the Canadian embassy in Hong Kong this morning. They told me that they have posted back my passport yesterday (12 Aug 2013).

I did not get any email that they have posted it. Good that I went to the Embassy, At least now I know they posted it

Just received my Passport with the visa

Applied online: 31st July 2013.
Passport request: 5th Aug 2013.
Passport sent to Canadian Embassy in HK: 7th Aug 2013.
Passport with Visa sent back: 12th Aug 2013.
Received the Passport with Visa: 13th Aug 2013.

passport received by ottawa sent to 365 laurier ave: 10 nov (highly recommend not to send to this address, it takes more than the regular time , do send to other address(no msg will be sent to you that passport received or not)
trv approved : 24 nov2104( they won't tell you that passport return or not, they will post on the very next day and don't know how long will it take
passport received: 1 dec 2014

no return envelop was sent by me they will send ur passport back at the address you written in your application as mailing address
highly recommend to use xxpresspost prepaid envelop written ur address on it if you don't want headache
