Hi, could someone help me answer this please!

My wife's application is being processed in Rome and it's been 19 months since they application was sent and the application is stuck on background check for a long time, we had our first child during this time and they asked me to send a copy of my daughter's passport so I finally was able to send thm the passport, and as soon as they received it they sent an email saying that they will send a remedical request. So my question is, does this mean the background check has concluded and now all that is left is the medical before requesting my wife's passport?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

IRCC medical exam results are valid for 12 months.........its not uncommon for IRCC to request re-medical if the PR visa was not issued before the expiration of the medical results 12 months validity.........your application is been in-process for 19 months and i guess your earlier medical results may have been past 12 months.......hence the re-medical is been requested........relax.....it will be okay.

Background Check takes awhile to complete........and the duration for background check varies and depends on the VO and other security agencies.

The current processing time for spousal sponsorship processed thru Rome, Italy is 14 months.......compared to your 16 months.....so i guess you should get some good news soon.........relax.......its a wait game........it will be okay.

Check your online account......if the Background Check status message is “We are processing your background check. we will send you a message if we need more information.“.........then Background Check is is final review stage and Visa Officer review to trigger PPR will follow.

Thank you for your input. Here's the thing though, I sent my daughter's passport copy and within half an hour they sent me an email saying they received the scans and sent me the re medical right away.

That's the more reason you should not be worried........the quick response and re-medical shows someone is working on your application........i think you will get good news soon...... ....relax.
