Do visa officers contact the colleges/universities for some documents?

Do visa officers contact the colleges/universities for some documents? coz we called one day, the response we get is that they sent some file or email to my college and still waiting for the response? what's up with this?

yes obviously , for inquiry they can call anyone in this world.....just be positive ...

They may or may not call any one. once the ball is under their court they can verify any thing.

if i will be calling again in embassy, and they said they are waiting for the reply from college.. should i then call to my college and tell them about this situation? so they will act fast.
