Do they do criminal background checks

They check every thing .As i said in my first post , my husband had a conviction over 20 years ago in a country he was in for a day. It came up on his police report . In the U.k it is on your record until you reach 99 years of age, even if the conviction was not in the country you reside in.

Hi i hope you will be able to read this..were you granted your permanent residency despite your husband being arrested long time ago..im am in the same situation my spouse has been charged of a crime but it was dismissed by a judge..his case was dismissed by the judge before he appeared in court..this happened outside canada 16 years ago..i really appreciate if you get back to me..we applied for pr and it is in process right now..do u think my spouse is admissible despite being charged but eventually was dismissed?thank you
