Do parent's (who lives in home country) critical illness qualify for urgent processing?

I am a March 2018 Applicant (family of three) from London office, which is super slow. In Process from May 02nd - but no test invite yet. My wife's father (living in our home country) is suffering from the advanced stage of a life threatening critical disease and it is progressing. My wife had to travel to home country to visit him twice in last 9 months. Wife, myself and our son will have to go suddenly if he is in a critical stage or something unfortunate happens.

It is ten months now since we applied and eight months since In Process. Can we ask for urgent processing because of my father-in-law's critical illness- because we may have to go to home country suddenly anytime after a few months and if the citizenship test or oath comes at that time, it may be an issue. Similarly, when we get citizenship also there will be a time when it will be difficult to travel urgently because of old passport cancellation, getting Canadian passport, taking a visit visa to native country etc. If we can complete the processes urgently, it may not create any embarrassment at a time when we will have to travel.

Have anyone asked for urgent processing in this type of situation? If anyone has information about this pl share your valuable info. Thanks in advance !

It never hurts to try if you can prove it...
However, based on your post, I’m not sure you meet the requirements.

According to IRCC:
“
To apply for urgent processing, you must be eligible to apply for citizenship and have an emergency, such as:

• needing to travel because of death or serious illness in your family and you can’t get a passport in your current nationality

The part in red is the real issue. Best wishes!

Thanks for the reply. I have also read the point which you mentioned. That condition is different from my situation. So many people who applied later than our date completed oath also. But even after 10 months we didn't even get test invite! I know there are so many others like this. What to do!

Nothing , just wait .... anything else you do to speed it up is waste of time ... trust me I have done all of those and didn’t get test invite until 15 months later. You are still 2 months away from their “established time frame “, there’s nothing they will do for you

I'm one of the two Feb 2018 London applicants. We can't do anything except wait. If it helps, the Jan applicant will be getting their oath done in 5 days and maybe that means things will begin to move faster? I can't predict the future and there could be factors that are hindering your application as well.

Now if you need to get going to your home country, you should be able to get an emergency travel visa from your home country's consulate in Toronto. Otherwise, if you can't, you should absolutely see if you can get urgent processing- just make sure you have a doctor's report that states the critical illness is now terminal and your father-in-law is now in palliative care.
