Hello,

I am from Turkey and graduated from a 4 years university many years ago. I plan to apply for a HR Management Graduate Program in Canada. But I don't know if the universities or colleges can see my age is a matter. I am 41 years old now.

Do anyone of you know about the restrictions about age?

Thanks in advance

There is no age restriction. However, CIC office might look at it at this way: why the applicant want to proceed in education after a long time why now and what will he/she benefit from this course .

You future studies should match your previouse study and work experience. Good luck

Age doesn't matter as long as you provide a strong SOP to demonstrate that you will return to your home country at the end of your studies (even if you plan to stay, you must convince them that you will return to your country of origin)

Age should not matter, I was just accepted to a post graduate program and I am 47yo and my prior education was done abroad. However, Canadian institutions will make it very difficult for you if you do not have a credential evaluation report issued by a recognized and approved institution in Canada (ICAS or WES, for example). Having a report from them will ensure that your grades and average is accurately calculated to provide with an offer of admission. ICAS may take 6 months to produce a report (that was my experience). Apparently WES takes a lot less.

Thank you very much for all the replies.

Actually, I wish to stay in Canada after graduation if I am accepted by an institution. However, I was planning to apply work permit and invite my family (wife and 2 daugters) after graduation.

But, I think you all suggest that I shouldn't mention about my real intention at first.

I would prefer to be accepted with all my family of course. I will change my plans I think.

Once again, I would like to thank all of you for your great comments enlighten me.

If you have further comments about me, share it please :)

It is true that your spouse and family can apply for an open work permit on your student permit, but bear in mind that as a student, you are treated as a temporary resident. You need to convince the VO that you will leave the country at the end of your stay.
Also you need to convince the officer as to why you wish to study after such a long gap.

Best of Luck!!!

Thanks,

Yes, the most important part is to convince Visa Officer.

What arguments can you suggest to convince VO. For example "I wish to proceed my career to higher levels" or "I want to run my own company and to do that I need to finish the program" or else. Are all of these arguments reasonable for you?
