Do multiple document requests happen?

We received a document request and have sent in the requested item via the case specific inquiry portal, via email return and via courier just to be sure they receive the original, if needed (it didn't specify), without delay.

Now we are curious if they typically send a document request only once, after they have reviewed the file? Or do they send document requests as they review the file and note something is missing, then continue reviewing and if they note something else they'd send another request?

Has anyone had multiple separate document requests?

yes, it is possible to get multiple document requests. why it happens can be a number of reasons including, not enough or correct information provided in previous request, request is for something else that wasn't requested before, the requested documents have been misplaced or are considered expired, etc.

As to how document requests are done is totally dependent on the visa office and officer. no one can say for sure what each officer does when handling applications, as it's unique to each officer's work habits. some officers review quicker than others and some officers continue processing files upon receipt of requests, some wait for the "due date" on the request. until the COPR is in your hand, there's no guarantee that you won't get multiple requests throughout the process.
