Hello Everyone,
I did my masters from McGill and received 3 years work permit. I just received a full-time job but my start date is not until May 14th so I started planning my India trip before I start my job, but when I applied for work permit I didn't know I have to apply for worker visa aswell. So now my situation is I have my work permit and my valid student visa (valid until Sep 2018). Can I travel India with a work permit and Student Visa or do I really really need worker visa? Thanks in advance.

Maybe I am not really understanding your post in that you completed your masters and now have a PGWP approved ? So what is this worker visa you are referring to given if you have a PGWP (an open work permit) approved and more importantly for travel a valid TRV to travel back to Canada. Are you referring to the need for a TRV ??

A study permit/visa is not of course a travel document

Also note it is not good practice to post in bold font in a forum , much same as capitals as almost same as shouting. Same as this section and the skilled worker section are related to PR applications not post grad work permits.

I didnt mean to type in bold, I think it was uploaded like that so apologies if that came up as aggressive or something.
Anyways yes I am referring to TRV? I had a student permit and student visa, after my studies in Canada now I have open worker permit but I am curious do I really need TRV(called worker visa on the passport) to travel or my valid student Visa wold be enough as travel document?

Your study permit is considered invalid the moment you are done with your schooling. This includes your study visa too. Yes, you have to apply for work visa even though your study visa has validity.

Your study visa is no longer valid. Make sure you have a valid TRV/ visitors visa. That's what you need to come into Canada. Your PGWP alone is not valid for travel and entry into Canada.

As per the other replies a PGWP is your open work permit that allows you to work in Canada it does not support travel back into Canada as is not a travel document you need a TRV for that. Given you have an approved PGWP then would expect getting a TRV would just be a formality given you have a valid reason to be in the country so ensure you reference your PGWP in any TRV application.

You can travel on your current TRV.

Incorrect. OP's TRV remains valid.
