Do I need to send a "original C printout" with my application, since I am a Canadian born citizen sponsoring of the "spouse family class"???

I am asking because I saw this in the "document checklist".

If this is not needed, can someone list for me the documents I will need as the sponsor living in Canada.

Yes

if it is on the document checklist then you need to send it. Even though there is no minimum income requirement there is still an option c requirement.

The document checklist that is with the application is the best checklist there is... go by that rather than what anyone else tells you.

If you don't have an Option C you can indicate why in a separate document.

I think, if memory serves me from another of your posts you are not in Canada right now - and perhaps you haven't filed taxes yet (ever) in Cnada - which would be a reason in which you wouldn't have a Option C.

However, I'd still request one... and see what comes of it.

I found this in another post, thank you to 'Alan'.
"It is a tax assessment from all walks of government and financial life. Option-C is like a transcript, that would document your income tax, EI, CPP/QPP, CCTB, student loans, Old Age Pension, social assistance if any taken and the list continues. It reflects an individual´s marital status as of that tax year, name, DOB, SIN and address with Canada Revenue Agency. CIC asks for such ones because it is more efficient and effective way to figure out financial standing pursuant to federal regulation of an individual."

Okay, now I'm worried. I called Revenue Canada and requested the Option C. About a week later I received it in the mail and submitted it with my application on May 18.

What I submitted is NOT what it states above! It was bascially a more detailed Notice of Assessment. No mention of the CCTB I receive. It does not say Option C anywhere on it. Just like a detailed NOA printed on white paper.

I'm really worried they sent me the wrong document and it will delay my application.

Any advice?

I gave my Notice of Assessment to my lawyer and she said that is what it is. No idea why it does not say Option C on it though, never noticed that before.

I do not know much about how the "Option C" paper looks like. Maybe, try to call "Revenue Canada" and tell them the sheet you received and ask them if that is the "Option C" paper. Go straight to the source and I am sure that they will give you the correct response.
If it not the sheet then act quick and ask them for an "Option C" and send it out to the immigration office as soon as possible.
But before creating monsters in your head, I suggest you call "Revenue Canada" and just ask.

I hope that helps :)

It sounds, in further research like Option C is more detailed Tax Assessment.

The option C printout we got says "Canada Revenue Agency" across the top and RC143 F (04) above each of the page numbers. It is a three page document that starts with a box containing his name and address, SIN number, birth date, province, Tax year, marital status. Underneath it has printed lines of text beginning with 3 or 4 digit numbers then a description, amounts etc. It's in French so I don't know exactly what's included. At the bottom of each page it has someone's initials, the date and some other numbers.

I remember that in lieu of an option C we could send one year's worth (tax year or previous 12 months I'm not sure) of pay stubs from his employer. We also had a letter stating his employment status, beginning date, salary, and number of work hours. We requested these while awaiting the option C and sent all of it with our application.

Hope that helps. Allison

I prepared my first canadian tax return by due date and sent it to the CRA. When I called them asking for option C printout there were not able to find my information at all and explained me since i'm a new immigrant it takes longer to process it. Just only last week i got notice of assessment and now I can call asking them to provide an option C printout. However, instead of option C printout I sent a copy of my 2009 USA tax return and a letter from employer stating my salary. It appears to be sufficient.
Hope that helps... 8)

I am in Ecuador at this moment and am going to be for a while, so how can I get the "Option C" printout if I am not in the country???

I faced the same problem. I could not call the CRA from overseas because it is a 1-800 number also the CRA would not allow my brother in Canada to ask for option c printout on my behalf...the only option for me now is to write what happened and enclose it with the other documents. I'll also send my last T4 notice of assessment.

I found a way to call the 1800 number from Ecuador. If I do have phone contact with them, can i request that the "Option C" print out be sent to Ecuador???

Just ask them. Probably yes. If no, ask them to send it to a family member in Canada, who can forward it to you. You can just give the Canadian address, you don't have to give their name.

To the previous previous poster: You can designate another person to be your representative for CRA matters. If they won't send the Option C to you or to a Canadian address, you could designate your brother as your representative, in which case they could give it to him.
