Do I need to leave Canada after my Int. Exp. Canada 2y visa expires?

Hi there,

My International Experience Canada visa expires very soon. I am an Australian citizen. Unfortunately I will be finishing my work in Toronto. I am interested in staying in Canada as a tourist. Do I need to leave and return, or will my visa status change to visitor status without me needing to cross the border?

Any insight is useful. Thank you in advance.

You need to apply to change to visitor status, it's not automatic.
