Do I need to have copies of my originals certified if all docs are in English?

Do any of my copies of original documents need to be certified, if everything is already in English?

I can't seem to find anywhere where it specifically states that we need to do this (??)

The Checklist (IMM5612) only states whether certain docs need to be originals or copies (but it doesnt state anything about copies needing to be certified in any way)

Copies are not meant to be truly certified once they are
all in English Language.

Original documents like WES,IELTS, ROLES letter doesn't require to be certified or notarized.
make sure, you notarize the photo copies of the rest set of docs.

Absolutely NOT necessary, unless they are translations, in which case the applicant should follow the guidance on translations as shown in the guide.

I did notarize the photo copies.....I clearly remember, i think one can consider it as optional its up to their preferences.
But I second with you on the translation docs, which require notarization.

U will find it among d application forms u need to fill in the application package folder.There is noconfusion about this,open d application package wia u will fill ur application forms,U will see application guide amongdem.Download it and scrool to page 19.U will see it there dat u have to certify all photocopies excludin ielts,ECA and PCC cos these 3 wil b originals.

The supposed "requirement" you state is NOWHERE in that document. Stop misleading people.

Translation of documents

Any document that is not in English or French must be accompanied by:

* the English or French translation; and
* an affidavit from the person who completed the translation; and
* a certified copy of the original document.

Note: An affidavit is a document on which the translator has sworn, in the presence of a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country in which the translator is living, that the contents of their translation are a true translation and representation of the contents of the original document. Translators who are certified members in good standing of one of the provincial or territorial organizations of translators and interpreters of Canada do not need to supply an affidavit.

Important information. Translations by family members are not acceptable.
Certified true copies

To have a photocopy of a document certified, an authorized person must compare the original document to the photocopy and must print the following on the photocopy:

* “I certify that this is a true copy of the original document”,
* the name of the original document,
* the date of the certification,
* his or her name,
* his or her official position or title, and
* his or her signature.

Who can certify copies?

Persons authorized to certify copies include the following:

In Canada:

* a commissioner of oaths (authority to certify varies by province and territory)
* a notary public
* a justice of the peace

Outside Canada:

* a judge
* a magistrate
* a notary public
* an officer of a court of justice
* a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country in which the person is living

Family members may not certify copies of your documents.

I think its advisable to certify our documents since copies is demanded in the checklist

hmm... It is a bit ambiguous..

It's difficult to tell whether that little stipulation about certified copies pertains to the information above it (ie. about translated documents), or...whether it is actually suggesting that all photocopies of original documents should be certified in that way. It's not very clear as to what that note on 'certified copies' is actually directly referring to...
