Hey guys,

- I had applied for PR under CEC back in April, but my work permit had expired, and had only just applied for renewal at the time, meaning I was under restoration of status period. I have since moved to the states to wait out my application process. Today I received a letter stating my status has been changed to Visitor, meaning the restoration was successful.
- Question is, do I contact CIC with an attached copy of the visa that has just been issued to me?
- Note that a prerequisite for CEC is "not remained in Canada after the time authorized to do so has expired". I'm assuming that restoration of status still counts as authorized time as technically, I was not in the country illegally.

Looking for suggestions before I make my next move

Cheers

LOL, I'm pretty sure that CIC knows they just sent you a visa (tho, this was not necessarily true before GCMS was implemented a couple of years ago!). No, you don't need to send a copy. A VO can see that in the GCMS system.

This part is not entirely clear. "Restoration" means you overstayed, and while technically unauthorized (CIC uses that word instead of "illegal"), applying for restoration does give you a grace period. As long as you didn't work during that time, you're OK.

Presumably you did update CIC with your change of address...?

Thanks for your Comments Jes, much appreciated. I didn't work during that period and I have updated my address with CIC.

Cheers

A quick question guys....
My DOB certificate does not have my last name on it whereas my passport and all other documents do. I am filing for my PR application in the next 10 days. Do you think it will be a problem ? If Yes, Please suggest what can be done here?

Will a newspaper cutting works as a supporting document stating my name change(it will be recent thought/not old)
