I have applied for Student Visa for 8 months course to start in Aug 2014 and got Visa already. (Visa expire JUL 2015)

However, I have to postpone my study to start in Feb 2015 (It's the same course, just different period) which mean that this Visa will expire before my course finish.

From what I an understand, I can use this Visa to go to Canada as I go to Canada before an expire date of my visa. am I correct?

Is there any thing I have to do before going to Canada as my plan is postpone for 6 month? Do I have to show any additional support document to immigration on my arrival?

Thank.

You will need to reapply for visa again. Your visa was based on the offer letter. The offer letter has the start course date and/or the expiry date on the offer letter. If you delay it, immigration officer won't let you enter Canada because the start date of your course is different from the one you have applied. Immigration officer at the airport has access to your application. One of my friend was sent back home for the same reason. They will send you home immediately on the next flight.

There is a provision called Deferring. You need to contact your school first and get yourself a deferral(postpone) letter. And then contact the CIC about it and If I am not completely wrong you need to submit the deferral letter. I think CIC itself can guide you in this process in the best possible way. Contact them immediately and explain to them honestly about your situation with the deferral letter. I think they will extend your study permit accordingly. Do not apply for another visa first contact them immediately and show them the postpone letter. All the best.
