Do I need to apply for new TRV after study permit bridge extension?

Hi all,

Please help me figure this out!

My masters program ends on August 31, 2015. My initial study permit and visa were also valid till August 31. I had applied for a study permit bridge extension (so that I can apply for a PGWP) and the application was approved today.

Now my questions is: should I apply for a new TRV? I will be applying for a PGWP on September 2015...and was wondering if I should apply for a new TRV now, or after receiving the PGWP?

Thank you,
-n

Hey,

I think it depends. When was your SP extension granted till? If it will be shorter than your expected PGWP duration, it might be worthwhile to wait for PGWP approval. Just depends on if you want to spend the money to apply for another TRV when you are in PGWP in case it expires beforehand.

Thanks!

I'm not sure till when my study permit was extended as I haven't received the letter yet from CIC. I can only view the status update on MYCIC which indicated that my application was approved.

I had asked for a bridge extension (of 90 days), so I guess the extension won't be more than 90 days. And that's why I was wondering whether I should spend on apply for a new TRV for only a few months...when I know that I probably will have to apply for one if the PGWP is approved.

Another question: If I do not apply for a new TRV now and continue to stay in Canada after my TRV expires on Aug 31, will that have any implications on CIC's decision on my PGWP? As in, do you know whether it will be a bad reflection on my records?

Actually I checked CIC again. My study permit has been extended till November 30 (for 90 days).

If I apply for a new TRV now, it will only be till November 30, right?

Most Likely. From what I understand, TRV validity is based on SP Validity.

Hii,

I'm going to apply for a study permit bridge extension (90 days) so do I need a proof of financial support ?

Also what type of letter you got from university ?

Hi,

I was asked to provide proof of financial support. But I know someone else in the forum who didn't need to provide this. So I guess it varies from case to case - a checklist will be generated for you on MyCIC.

From my uni I got a letter that certified that I was enrolled in the current semester and I also included my transcript.
