Do I need to add my daughter's info in the dependent section of the application even though she is a Canadian citizen?

I am a dominican citizen, I live with my common law partner (who is a Canadian citizen) in the Dominican Republic and we have a daughter who was born in Canada just like her mother. We are trying to apply for my partner to sponsor me but we are not sure how exactly to complete the dependants section of the application form.

The form in question has the following disclaimer: "You must provide the following details about each of your family members, whether they will be accompanying you to Canada or not. You must include your common law partner if applicable, and all of your dependent children, who are not already permanent residents or citizens of Canada".

Should I declare my daughter as a dependant even thought she is a Canadian citizen? Should I also declare my common law parter as a dependant even though she will be the one sponsoring me?

This seems a little ambiguous to me so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

You don’t add her to the application she will enter Canada on her own passport. My girls are dual Australian/Canadian and they did not need to go on my husband’s application. (We live in Australia) he was the only principal applicant and no dependants. We only had to get their citizenship certificates and passports. Your common law spouse will be your sponsor not your dependant

It's not ambiguous - unless you think the way they write these forms is to provide optionality about whether to include dependents/spouses or not.

You must include spouses and dependents - unless they are already PRs or citizens. In which case - don't include them.

Anyway, it's probably easier to understand this way - the 'form in question' (IMM008) is about listing those who are/can be/could be sponsored to become PRs. Individuals who are already PRs or citizens are not eligible to be sponsored to become PRs (because that would be ... stupid). So don't include them here.

(You may need to include them on other forms, where the disclaimer is not present.)
