DO i need extend my visitor visa?

Hi dear friends,

I have a quick question for you. I applied inland family sponsorship the beginning of this month and received AOR email with UCI number, application number yesterday. This time I came Canada through visitor visa and it will be for 6 months on Jan.18th, 2016. In this case, do I need extend my visitor visa? Because someone told me I still don't have implied status.

Did you include an open work permit with your inland application? If you did, then you have implied status. If you didn't, then no implied status and you need to apply to extend your stay as a visitor.

Thanks for your quick response!

I applied open work permit together with my Inland family sponsorship application. But I don't know when I will get my OWP. it will take at least 96 days. So far, i only received AOR email from CIC with my UCI number and application number. That's it.

You have implied status in that case.

You should receive the OWP approximately 4 months after you applied.

I wanna ask you one more time as some people suggest me to extend my visitor visa until I got owp. Since if my OWP returned, then I'll be screwed up. I submitted OWP with Inland application together , since I got AOR does that means my OWP application is also fine and won't be return?

I don't know if I have enough time to extend my visitor visa, my 6 months time will be end 18th.Jan, 2017. Thank you!

AOR is only for the Inland application, not the OWP.

If you have not received the OWP (or if it is returned because of an error on your part) by Jan 17, 2017, you could apply online for an extension. Even though CIC suggests 30 days, you can actually apply on the last day of legal status.
