A person should check the CBP website to find the entry requirements. Many foreign nationals are visa exempt, while others, obviously, are not. Glad to see that you are part of the former!

If your passport is from a country that requires a visa to enter the US, you will continue to require a visa even as a PR, until you become a Canadian Citizen. If your passport is from a country that has visa waiver with the US, you won’t need a visa but will need an ESTA except if entering by ferry. ESTA and eTA are notices that you tell the US and Canada respectively that you are visiting and are from a visa waiver country.
