Do I need a work permit?

I am a US citizen, working for a US company. We have a US customer who is looking to purchase raw material from a Canadian supplier. This customer would like me to go to the supplier in Canada to inspect the material before they purchase it. Since I am US based, and my customer is US based, would I need a permit to do this? I will be in Canada for a total of about 8 hours only. I have been looking on the cic.gc.ca website and have not been able to find a definitive answer.
Thank you

Nopes. Unless you are getting paid by a Canadian employer for your services directly, you don't need a work permit

Thank you for the response.

So when crossing the border, I just tell the customs agent that I am entering to perform work for a US company?

You are most welcome. You would say pretty much the same as a person coming to US on Business Visit visa says (B1).

Yes working for a US company and here to see a customer / supplier
