I'm an American-born (1984) Canadian citizen. I am doing the paperwork for family class sponsorship. I know my American-born children (2010s) are not Canadians because I got Canadian citizenship through my father who was born in Canada. My children are not Canadian citizens because citizenship doesn't transfer to a second generation outside of Canada. In doing the paperwork for the family class sponsorship, on document 5533, part B, question 3, it asks if my American wife and I have children together who may be Canadian. We do have children together, but as I'm sure they aren't Canadians, should I check 'no'? I'm trying to make sure that I don't have to provide a negative proof of citizenship for the kids. Many thanks.

Would suggest including an explanation of why your children don’t have citizenship through you. Assume you know you will have to show concrete proof that you will be permanently relocating to Canada to sponsor your family,

I haven't seen the forms, but if you have to write down your children's dates of birth and include copies of their birth certificates, it should be abundantly clear to IRCC that they are not Canadian citizens by descent through you, because as you've already pointed out, they are of the second generation born after the commencement of the 2009 Citizenship Act when IRCC verifies your citizenship and sees that you are a first generation citizen by descent yourself. I think you can safely answer "no" to that question.
