Hi all,
I did my soft landing in 2019 and came back same day to usa , just got my sin at that time. Now I moved permanently to Canada on March .do I need to file any tax for 2020 in Canada for my usa income?I already filed my taxes in usa.
Has anybody applied for Canada child benefit in Ontario? Have some questions.

Have you had any Canadian source of income and/or received government benefits during 2020? If not, then you’re not required to file in Canada .

That's incorrect they moved to Canada in March. They must file Canadian taxes for 2020 and declare their international income even if they didn't work i n Canada for the rest of 2020.

I moved to Canada in March 2021..no Canadian source income or any benefit in 2020..do I still have to pay tax?

You can call cra to find out the residency status for 2020.
Even if you were to file, your whole income was from outside of Canada hence you would certainly pay 0 tax. I paid 0 tax for moving on Dec 31st since my all income were outside of Canada. So dont worry about paying taxes as there wont be any for 2020 and less in 2021 as you were not there for the first 2 months of this year.

Childcare benefit is only available in certain provinces. Your previous international income will factor into how much you qualify for in CCB. Given your previous US income it may be quite low.

I got my PR in Dec 2019. I have not moved yet. Do I need to file taxes for 2020? Did not file for 2019 either!!

Yeah I checked it .. it’s small amount but something is better than nothing..looking at how costly Canada is..

Childcare benefit is not the same as CCB but childcare benefit is only available in certain provinces. Wasn’t clear in my past posting,
