Hi,
I will be applying for study permit on january. But my passport will expire on June 2014.

Do I have to apply for a new study permit when my passport expires ?

Can you apply for a new passport right now, so that you get the new one before even applying for the study permit? That would be much easier, and that's also what I did - my old passport was only valid until August 2016, but my studies might last until the end of 2017, so I just got a new passport that's valid for five years. Not sure if this can be done in your country though.

Yes it can be done, I talked to the embassy people.

Btw does it make a difference on chances of getting my study permit if I get a Machine Readable Passport
or a Normal Hand written passport ?
