Do CIC send an initial acknowledgement or receipt of PR Application?

Hello friends!

I sent in PR application (family sponsorship class) to CIC Vigreville. Do they acknowledge receipt? They say they will return package if there is anything wrong or it is incomplete, but what if it is all present and correct? Will they tell me that and/or give me a file number, and how long might that take from them receiving it?

Thanks

AGH

You won't hear from CIC until around the six month mark when you receive first stage approval. That's the first communication you should expect.

Thanks, Scylla.

(a) This is crazy. How do I know whether they have even got the package? Do they no even send out a generic postcard or email receipt? Unfortunately I didn't send send it in such a way as to get a signature on delivery. Maybe I am worrying unnecessarily, but it seems it would hugely reduce stress just to know the thing is "in hand".

(b) I tried to get inot e-cas using my UCI but it didn't recognise me (I am being sponsoered, my wife is Canadain and bein sponsored). At what point do you think there will be some recogition of my application on e-cas?

(c) When they do get in touch, will correpondence be via email or hard-copy? I provided both email and mailing address in the application.

Many thanks for any advice.

Ask your wife or try yourself to check the eCas system with your wife's Client ID, Last Name, DOB, and Country of birth.

Thanks for any advice.

You can also use the number from payment receipt along with your wife's Last Name, DOB, and Country of Birth

a. They don't even send out a generic email or anything. You're probably worrying unnecessarily but it's completely understandable.

b. Your e-cas probably won't show anything until first stage approval. It sucks, but it's normal.

c. Communication may be either email or hard copy. I got some correspondence each way.

Thanks isometry.

My wife is Canadian and the sponsor. I can't find myself on e-cas, using the UCI number I got when I applied for my TWP last year. Someone on another read suggested I search under my wife's details, but she has never had any contact with cic as she is Canadian so doesn't have any numbers.

At what stage will it show up on e-cas.

Also, do cic use the email address is sent for contact, usually?

Processing time at present is about 50-60 days. As per information posted on CIC website, CIC is working on application received on Nov 7, 2012. Initial Review and decision can take additional time. As suggested by others, it can take up to 6 months. Once the processing starts on your application, information will become available on eCas...

I sent my app in October and my sponsor received an email in December stating that they received our application on October 5. This is an AOR. Now we are waiting for AIP..

When your wife receives a letter from CIC informing her that she has been approved as sponsor, the same letter should contain a Universal Client Identification (UCI) and an Application Number.

You can use either to check the status of your application.

1. If you use the UCI, use your wife's name, date of birth, and country of birth to log on to eCAS.
2. If you use the application number, use your name, date of birth, and country of birth to log on to eCAS.

Hope this helps.

UCI can be used by either Sponsor or Sponsored person to check status on eCas.
- If you use Sponsor's UCI then Last Name, Date of Birth, and Country of Birth should be that of sponsor.
- If you use UCI which belongs to sponsored person then Last Name, Date of Birth, and Country of Birth should be that of sponsored person.

** If you use Application Number then Last Name, Date of Birth, and Country of Birth should be that of sponsored person. Application number does not work with details of Sponsor.

That is how it has been for me always.
