Smurfette, here is a link to divorce in Ontario. Not sure what your province was before going to Qatar. You can file the divorce yourself and save thousands of dollars. It's not that difficult. You can have a family member or friend help you serve documents and get documents filed in court. It will cost you about $450.00 canadian.

It sounds like he wants the divorce also so stay as amicable as you can with him as it is possible if the case goes to court, or it's contested by your husband, a judge could order you to pay him support especially since you have/had been supporting him.

You will need to have a separation agreement to file with the papers, so if you have no assets/property/children, it should be a simple agreement. Do a google search for simple separation agreements and have him sign the document as well and have it notarized or witnessed by a lawyer or legal person if possible.

Hope this helps.

Smurfette,
Just let the welfare deals with support him, and you repay the goverment, as per divorce settlement it is in accord of both income combine, and you have to support him for almost the same time that your marriage lasted, but your undertaking is more that any settlement that he can get from you, don't worry, you will be fine, let the welfare deal with him, they will supervise him, he only is going to get enough money to survive, if you try to deal with him, he could take advantage of the lack of knowledge about divorce and undertaking.
