Hi,

I am planning to migrate to Canada under FSWC. I am re-married after divorce in the first marriage. I have a divorce certificate of my first marriage and marriage certificate of my 2nd marriage. In India, getting marriage certificate of the first marriage, which is now annulled, is impossible. In the documentation of FSWC, CIC wants the marriage and divorce certificates of all marriages. What do i do? Please advise. Should I conceal my first marriage?

Please ignore the below message and pardon me if you are not a christain.....

If you are married in a church, the certificate/document issued by the church with the signature of Vicar(main priest) and seal of the church will serve the purpose.

This certificate/document will be issued by the church any number of times....so no worries....:)

Thanks Jotgrewal and Rajeev,

Rajeev unfortunately I am not a Christian.

Jotgrewal, in India very few people have marriage certificates. In fact for my 2nd marriage also I am just applying and have to go to their office in an hours time. Will check if money does the work.

However my question was that if I have a court divorce certificate, is it not obvious that I must have been married? Should I submit my application without the previous marriage certificate & Just a divorce certificate OR should I show that this is my first marriage?

PLEASE HELP. I DONT WANT MY APPLICATION TO BE REJECTED BECAUSE OF SUCH A SMALL THING.

CIC only concern about your current marital status at the time of application submission. Or change in status after application
Even in application you can't find any space to write
First marriage
Divorced
Second marriage
Etc

Dont hide any information from CIC, it may affect you in future, I suggest you apply without previous marriage certificate (in case they ask for it, just give one affidavit stating the truth). as you have divorce certificate so there should be no issue for previous marriage.

Good Luck!

Hello, a few things you could do. If there is a wedding Card, receipt for wedding hall, receipt for catering or any such event connected to your first wedding, along with a self affidavit stating you were married to so and so on xyz date...and the marriage annulled certificate, should do. Don't hide anything. You could always substantiate a true statement. Much easier always. Wish you best in your endeavors.

Thanks All.

Dear "Cut" in the General Application Form IMM0008ENU, question 14 they ask "Have you previously been married, with details of spouse?".

Dear Jotgrewal/ Centaur, thanks for all your help. In documentation they have asked for all marriage certifictes of previous marriage. Will they accept my application if I send an affidavit, that I do not have a marriage certificate of the first marriage along with divorce cetificate? Or could they reject it for incomplete documentation? If there is a chance of rejection, I might as well leave the above question 14 blank, as Cut is suggesting... Plz guide.

2nd Problem- I dont even have my current Court Marriage certificate. I have applied to the registrar and he says it will take 2 months, by which FSWC will close. But I do have my Notarized Marraige Affidavit, along with wedding card and marriage certificate made by the Hindu Ceremonies System called Arya Samaj. Can I send these, in the absence of a court marriage certificate? Will this documentation be accepted or will it be rejected. Please guide.
