divorce in canada

Hi...i am so confused..i just turned a year here in canada,can i file divorce to my husband in the philippines coz i discovered he have another girl..does it affect my application for pr later on?coz i dont want to include him in my application..all of your advise will be highly appreciated..thank you so much.

I was in the same situation too. I guess you can apply for divorce if u have lived here at least a year. But you have to be separated for a year in order to file for divorce. When I filled my immigration file, i mentioned my marital status as "separated" and sent my divorce certificate when I received it. That way you dont include him in your file.

Thank you so much..so should i start processing my divorce paper now?coz i know it will takes 6 months or more..i work in hk for 2 years..do u think i can use it as ground for divorce?

If you are more then 1 year in Canada and if its been 1 year since you guys separated, then you can file for divorce now in Canada. I did mutual consent so I sent the divorce papers back to India for my ex to sign it and he signed and sent me back to Canada.
