Hi,

I have applied for canadian student visa. I have filled a divorce case agains my spouse and one criminal case of domestic voilence and dowry. The result of both the cases are still pending. However there is no case against me and i am the petitioner. I want to know
1. Do i need to show my marital status during visa application. Can i just show single
2. Will both the cased are of any issue to get the visa

1. There should be an option for being legally separated. You can see a thread here, although it's to do with PR, it will help you get the required documents.

You can use court documents as proof of being legally separated. Since there is no complications in study permit, you should not have to do much except prove your separation.

Since you are the plaintiff, you don't have a case against you. Therefore you do not need to declare anything.

It will make your visa process take longer. Ideally if you are able to obtain a divorce before your visa application. However that may not be possible due to time constraints.

Thanks for the update. Can you please let me know how much time visa processing will take after i submit my legal seperation document. I hope it does’nt take a longer time.

You will have to submit it as part of your application package. The time it will take depends on where you are applying from and the average time taken in that country.

Hi I have same situation.. did you get your study permit? What documents you attached to justify legally separated?
