divorce before submission of PR application

Ms HONEYGIRL, is it ok to file my PR application and do the legal action about my marriage after? will the immigration ask about any certification on my marriage if i said that I am separated? thank you so much for guiding me....

Job_seeker....thanks for answering that question for me...I really don't have any idea about that, cos I've never do the preparation for that wedding, just my mother and him, he's not even my boyfriend that time.....

In the Phils, sometimes the bigamist can get away with it by getting married in a province away from where the first marriage is solemnized or performed. And even if the marriage is null and void from the beginning, it still needs court proceedings, and a lot of money, to void the marriage.

that is very true.... you need lots of money just to get your marriage annulled because some people working in court will take advantage and will try to get big amount of money from you especially if you do not know the procedures...

hi singlemom i sent a message in ur inbox try to reply there... well i think the immgration wont ask u for certificate just make a letter that ur explaining ur current status with ur ex husband..i subbmit my PR application last year Aug.i didnt got any letter yet in cic questioning about my martial status..last month i phone the cic they say everthing in my application is fine...and i just put my kids name in my application i didnt pay it yet i want to get my PR first b4 i will sponsor them coz i know my ex will not cooperate... i dont want my application for PR affected if he will hold the kids rite

my situtaion is same as urs.i applied for pr n owp in oct2010. and i send a letter to cic along that i m filing divorce as i m not in good relations with my husband i m separetd from him july2008.
i got a leeter from cic that my case has been transfer to edmonton.
i don't know wht to do now

i didnt got any letter yet i submit my PR ,owp Aug.2010 i dunno about that did u have any kids? did u also make a letter of expalanation? did u file a devorce here in canada?

even if u will make a letter of explaination they will still ask the divorce document.i called the cic about my case.i processed my papers last april 2010.I just put marriedcoz i dont have a supporting docs for my separation.i included my husband.I thought its ok for my husband to come here and do the divorce here.i was wrong.what i did i filed a divorce last april 1st and called the cic about this and ask if i can remove my husband in my application.they said we have nothing t do unless i have the divorce documents.thats what im waiting now to finalize my PR.

hi sweetchad i didnt put the name of my ex in my application i just put the name of my kids... i had also annulment going on now i didnt pay the fee for my kids yet but if i got my papers done i will sponsor them not include my ex coz i didnt put his name,,,am so scared b4 might affect my application if he wont cooperate... i ask the cic first b4 they said just make a letter stated my reason why am not putting his name thats what i did... am not saying am rite sweetchad i just want to share my exp.thats all

we have the same timeline and situation.... why it was transferred to Edmonton? what do they mean about that?

but in my case i submitted a proof about the broke down of our marriage along with my application for OWP and PR.. i have a solo-parent ID since 2006 issued by DSWD in the Philippines... and my divorce is currently on going..

did you call CIC and asked them why your case was transferred to Edmonton? please give us an update... thank you..

hey guys, i just want to ask, if the husband doesnt want to comply with the divorce, is it necessary to get him to sign the divorce papers too? and how long will it take if he non compliant.. thank u

there are two kinds wherein you can apply for divorce... joint application and sole application... in sole application you don't need your husband to sign for the divorce.... you will just have to inform him that you are filing a divorce and if he doesn't respond after 30 days notice... the judge now will now make the final decision about the divorce.... that's what a lawyer told me...

i sent my applicatin for pr card n owp in oct 2010 n a letter from my lawer that show s that i m in the process of divorce in jan 2011 . by the end of june2011 i l'll get divorce certificate from court thn i l'll send it to cic .
i m wondering after getting owp how long we have to waite for pr?
my son is with him i don't have his coustdy .if cic l'll medical my hus l'll not cooperate.
