since your marriage was not registered in Canada, you dont need to file any divorce in Canada. My ex wife is just delaying my divorce for past two years. I hv applied for PR. Hopefully whenever it comes, can i file a divorce case against here when i land in canada? How much time do i need to wait after landing in canada. I hv lived separately from her for past two years, will that count while filing divorce in canada or i have to wait for a year specifically in canada to prove separation. In my IRCC application, i hv applied as “separated”.
Any help on above 3 questions is deeply deeply appreciated. Please share your thoughts.
This is absolutely wrong. Good way to get arrested for bigamy.since your marriage was not registered in Canada, you dont need to file any divorce in Canada.
in-fact you can re-marry in Canada even without your divorce coming thru in India.
no.. that is against the law.since your marriage was not registered in Canada, you dont need to file any divorce in Canada.

Please suggest its urgent!!Others will comment but once you are PRs makes no difference whether you stay married or not given your PR status is an individual responsibility to keep and maintain. Same goes for qualifying for citizenship each individual needs to qualify in their own right so being divorced once PRs has no impact it is just a sad fact of life.
No issuesPl

I am primary applicant .About to receive
Copr. But there has been some problem and my husband (secondary applicant)refuses to land in Canada .I will land with my kids. Will his failure to land before the last date and subsequent cancellation of pr affect my pr status?
If you and your husband are no longer together you would need to withdraw his name from the application.Pl

1. Probably not, for an uncontested divorce in Canada, you need a 1 year's separation.Hello All
I have landed in Canada 10 days ago through express entry where I was the principal applicant and my spouse was dependent applicant.
We have been married for 1.5 years but just after landing to Canada within 10 days he started domestic violence.
What can I do??
I want to ahead and file for a divorce.
What looks like that my spouse just used me for PR application as I was able to qualify.
Can I go ahead and file for a divorce immediately?
Also I want to go back to my home country since I am alone here and cannot handle this all alone.
Where should I file for a divorce, in my home country or in Canada??
please suggest.
If you don't plan to stay in Canada, then it would make more sense to apply in your own country.Hello All
