From personal experience and by talking to few others, it seems like if visa is approved email is sent. Below is the trend I have seen/heard

Lets say you track your application and it says Passport dispatched (So you will receive your passport the follow day in the afternoon)

Visa Office sends an email with a visa approval letter (this happens around noon)

You receive your passport by end of the day.

I'm not 100% sure if this happens with everyone, only saying from personal experience.

Yes but if you apply by paper they may not send you any email.

I never linked it...just got text messages same as the statuses on vfs website.

This is not true! My brother received a letter emailed to him, We submitted paper application only and we did not link his application online either.

No that's not true either, Visa offices are not following a standard procedure. Majority of candidates get emails but there have been chances where they do not send an email. Also depends if you mentioned your email on your application.

hi, i just say me and friend around me. If you do not receive the email notifying approval, 95% of the chances that your application is not approved. it is not a good sign.
