I am from the UK and I recently attended a bachelor party in Montreal. I was so impressed with the city and it's diverse cultures that I am considering relocating there.

Any thoughts or opinions about living in montreal?

PS. I can at least say that the nightlife there is pretty impressive.

Check if you qualify here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/quebec/index.asp It's better if you speak French.

I've never lived there, only been there a couple of times. I know it's cold in winter and snows a lot. I know it's hot and humid in summers. I know two French women who moved there, both chefs. They spoke of the hurdles met by pretty much every immigrant in Canada about the Canadian experience. One of them eventually got a job and worked her way up to a better job, the other moved. I also knew a girl who lived there, artist. She said the metro system there is really good, you don't need a car.

Montreal does not seem as expensive as Vancouver or Toronto. Night life is pretty good. The public transit also seems to be good. As for the job opportunities it depends on your field and ofcourse you wont know unless you experience it first hand. Knowing French would help a lot. All in all a nice place to stay.
