Hello all,

I have already sent my application, I am pending AOR yet. I recently have quite a disagreement with my employer so I quit my job (which they did not like at all). I am worried now because I don´t know if a CIC call to this employer (I had 2 different employers towards my CEC experience) could cause a negative impact on my application. I know it is only a possibility that they call this employer, but in case they do, what do they usually ask? I mean if they only ask for periods of employment or duties I guess the employer will not lie (I guess...) but if they ask references I am pretty sure they will put a bad word on me. Any thoughts on this matter would be very appreciated.

Thanks!

As long as you have submitted proof of the required hours you should be fine. I wonder under what circumstances they would even call your employer. I highly doubt CIC calls employers. In fact it would be more efficient if they did call employers to clarify simple doubts. But that would prob take too much time and effort. Both of which they dont have !

As long as you have officially worked with your employer for the duration you mentioned in the form there is no issue. Even if they call your employer, your employer should give correct information to CIC. I dont think so CIC will take their opinion about you if they call, they will only verify your experience.

Technically, I think it is ok , but If I am you, I will try to remedy something.

based on my understanding: two things:

1) any employment information change need be updated, e.g in your reference letter do you mention hired permanently ? if so you need update it.

2) in my understanding: all the CEC english level or work experience is used to estimate if you will be qualified or survived in Canada's job market in future.

So your boss's opinion is really very important except to confirm the duties and period.

if you search the CEC process time for different application, you can find , those whose job's experience is from like world 500 strong companies is much shorter.

your job experience is really matter in my opinion. that is also why they exclude the self-employment as work experience.

so , why don't you have a private talk with your boss, to comfort him/her, touch him/her sincerely.

it won't be a hard job for him/her to speak 2 or 3 good words for you, right ? Or you really do some bad thing , unforgivable ?

Just my suggestion and opinion, doesn't mean it is true , good luck for you.

Hi

CIC do, on occasion call employers, this is well documented in this forum.

In order to get your AOR the employer (s) will have written your reference letter. If they do get a call and contradict what is in the letter then they may have a problem with CIC as it could be seen they have provided false information.

One thing this proves, always ensure you leave your place of work on amicable terms. Companies you work for can have an impact on your life long after you have left.

Thx

The manual (OP 25a) suggests that they may conduct interviews in certain cases: where eligibility cannot be decided one way or the other, where the application fits a profile where misrepresentation is more likely, and at other random times. I'm guessing there is a similar strategy to decide whether to phone employers.

As Dr_Midnite points out - your employment is already attested by your letter, T4s, etc. The call (if there is one) may be simply to gather information about the company itself.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I did not have any discussion or did anything wrong at work. They did not fulfill what we had agreed, and did not even answer when asked about it, so I gave proper notice and quit. They did not like it at all as I am not the only one acting in the same way. Now I know they are trying to whitewash speaking to other members of the staff lying about my situation. I guess they won´t lie about experience as the ROE and reference letter are properly done (and the way it was written no update is necessary), but I don´t know if CIC questions in case they call the employer go beyond experience and duties. Any one knows what they usually ask?

If so , don't worry at all , If VO reject you based on your previous boss comments, he need mention in reject letter.

if anything is not true , sue your previous boss.

suggestion: so your previous boss don't happy your leave ? why ? what's the lost for them, they have make full use of you.

if it is just some blame he will get from upper management. it is not a big deal, you still can talk to convince him to provide better words for the possible call from CIC.

anyway, try you best to survive from this. never argue with your previous boss again. talk with him nicely.

I have no idea what they will ask . but i think what they usually do should confirm information if match with the letter.

I only heard trouble introduced because the boss forget what he wrote in letter, or answer mindless.

in this situation, even your letter is right, but your boss "intend" to speak in another way. like you work 40 hours, he said you work 20 hours/ week.

then you will need your previous manager's explanation again to the CIC , and prepare to answer another call from CIC after you explain to VO again.

anyway, it is easy for your previous boss to create trouble for you.

but I am sure, at the last, right will be right, everything will be in normal and reasonable track. don't worry too much. just do your best.
