Hi,

I am B.Com with EMBA and have more than 10 years of Experience. I am also certified management accountant from US. With an age of 37 years what do you all feel whether DAP from UBC Sauder is any good for post study visa and later on immigration.

Or if you have any colleges/universities, which are better than this but where I can get Post study visa and smooth immigration opportunities.

Your guidance will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

It does not make sense: to be CMA and go for PG in Accounting.
Try MBA if you can convince CIC that you need it in your career in US and could not get in US (!!?!?!?).

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I am also a CPA (US) candidate with two papers in kitty. US H1B is tough to get for Accounting professionals and MBA process is lengthy with GMAT and Essays. What I really care at my age is a way whereby I can immigrate to Canada through study route. I intend to attain CPA (Canada) and with US CPA, it would be close to mutual recognition.

Therefore, do you really thing DAP would not be okay to satisfy CIC.

Also, I just got a mail from Sauders that the course is recognized for post study work visa. Please let me know as your and others valuable opinions are most welcome.

Thanks again.

I undersntand that. And you problem is not this but that you have too many credentials to convince VO that your intention is to study (what you have to do while applying for Study permit in Canada).

Yas, in your case your intention looks odd.

On top of that- what is your country of origin if you say
US H1B is tough to get for Accounting professionals
? You are in US on H1, eh? So you an immigrant already and do not have ties at your home country?

I am from India.

I have also marked Schulich's Macc or HEC Montreal 1 year MBA. But the application deadline is later this year. And before that I have to prepare for GMAT.

If I go by your opinion, it would be odd and difficult to convince VO if I do DAP but not masters or MBA.

Please reply.

Yes, it would. They will think for what purpose a person with all these credentials could need a second masters (or MBA ) or even Post-bacc (a lower than masters level of education) in Canada and not in US. Besides you do not have ties with your home country, you are already an immigrant in another country. So , after leaving US for Canada (let's say) what could make you go back to India and not to try to stay in Canada by all means including illegal? (that is what CIC is worried about with international students).

A person with Bachelor in ACCOUNTING DOES NOT NEED post-bacc in ACCOUNTING again. If you try Post-Bacc in another field , nd if you are able to prove you need it for your job and career, then it will make sense. Like , say, you are an accountant working in some computing field (like computer auditing), then trying to get Post-bacc in computing could make sense.

I think you could be right. Desperation does many tricks! ???

Anyways thanks! I would definitely look into your advise and see if I can manage to get in US MBA!

Cheers!

How long could you stay in US without getting into MBA?
You see the great changes in Canadian Immigration process are coming next year (or maybe even this year). And then if ,say, you are ready to go to some out of way place to work there as an accountant (an employer there will invite you because there are not many locals who would like to go to that place to live and work, no need in LMO , it will be like a FSW ) you could be able to immigrate to Canada as it is without SP or anything else.

Hello guys,
I am from India and I just completed my BA(HONS) Accounting in UK. I wanted to settle in Canada and would like to study CPA to become a professional accountant. To complete all the requirements of writing CPA I need to study DAP at UBC.
1) How many years post study visa will I get, the course is 10-24 months. So If i study for 24 months I can apply for 3 years work permit?
2) Is the course worth doing ?
thank you
