Hello,
I'm thinking about applying to Capilano University's 2d Animation post-secondary diploma (2 years). I already have a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design from my country, I graduated in 2014 and have around 4 years of experience in advertising agencies as a graphic designer. I'm specialized in illustration and have been doing some motion graphics for the last couple of years. It's not a huge field change, but I'm still scared of having my visa refused because of that, and because it's a lower credential. There are no animation programs in my country, and that's what I always wanted to do, I just couldn't study abroad when I graduated high school, and graphic design was the closest thing here.
Work wise, animation isn't that far from my first degree, and I'd probably be able to work in either advertising or the (small) animation field in my country. Graphic designers with animation skills are somewhat in demand here, I guess I could talk about that.

I do intend to eventually immigrate to Canada (and work there, legally), but I understand I can't talk about that in my SOP.
What should I include in my SOP to convince CIC?
(I'm still a few months away from actually applying, I'm just anxious because it's not a Masters degree. Even though a Masters was my initial idea, I didn't find a MFA program or Postgraduate diploma I liked. There aren't that many options for Art and Design)
Thanks.

Not sure what your real question is. Dual intent definitely is a NO on your SOP. With regard to the program application, I think you got a valid point in your first paragraph.

I guess I'm just looking for advice because I'm aware my career path is strange, and I'll need a very strong SOP.
And yes, that's what I thought regarding dual intent.
Thanks.

My pleasure. There's no strange career path, only better ones :) Best of luck!!
