Dilemma with police certificate in NYC

Hi, I'm still clueless about how and where to go for a police certificate in NYC. If anyone has applied for a Canadian school living in the US (NYC, in particular), I would like your advice on how to proceed with this issue. I'm in a bit of a dilemma here.
