Hi guys, so I wanted to know how strict is CIC in terms of photo requirements, which you have to upload after receiving an ITA.

The requirements are all quoted below, and I have a good passport size photo available of myself which (I think) fulfills all requirements mentioned below, EXCEPT that the vertical size of my head in the photo is about 27mm ~ 28mm, whereas the acceptable range is 31mm ~ 36mm ... Personally don't know how such a big head can even fit in a 2"x2" photo, especially when you're also required to show your shoulders! .. Anyways, so I got another passport photo taken from CVS today which barely puts me in the acceptable range (at 31mm), however the picture quality of this second shoot isn't good - The first one has much better colors and brightness levels.

So please recommend what I should do ..

Here are the requirements in full:

Dimensions:
---------------
The final frame size of the photo must be at least 35 mm x 45 mm (1 3/8" x 1 ¾").
The photographs must show the full front view of the head, with the face in the middle of the photograph, and include the top of the shoulders.
The size of the head, from chin to crown, must be between 31 mm (1 ¼") and 36 mm (1 7/16").
Digital dimensions are often expressed in pixels or DPI (dots per inch). The physical dimensions in pixels must be at least 420 x 540.

Quality/Resolution:
-----------------------

If an existing photo is being scanned, the minimum resolution must be 600 pixels per inch.

File Format:
---------------
The file may be submitted in JPEG or JPEG2000 format.

File Size:
-----------

The final size of the image should be ideally 240 kB (kilobytes), but not less than 60 kB.

Colour:
---------

The image must be in color (24 bits per pixel) in sRGB colour space which is the common output for most digital cameras.

Send in either of those photos with the application. If CIC don't like it, they will ask for another photo - this will not be a reason for rejection of the application.

Okay thanks. I guess I'll use the first one for now and see what happens.

By the way, is there are list which CIC maintains which states the reasons which ARE, or which ARE NOT, valid for rejecting someone ?

When you receive ppr, you will get a form with photo requirements specification. which you are to send to your VO along with your international passport. So as long as your face is showing in the passport you upload the measurements don't matter pre-PPR

You can use that provided it matches the specifications.

I suppose that we can only do as best as we can in regard to the digital photo before PPR, for example, in the specification, "The final frame size of the photo must be at least 35 mm x 45 mm", I got a digital version of the photo, the final frame size(physical size) requirement doesn't really apply here.

I guess the physical photo is what really matters.
